When Nature Calls

When Nature Calls

Have you ever been camping?

To answer this question, why yes, many of times.

The best feeling is arriving, and beginning to unpack and setting up camp; knowing I’m going to be there for a week or more and knowing I have all this free time to relax is a great way to start vacation. Maybe grab some dinner, start a fire and have a cup of coffee, pop or maybe even a glass of wine to kick off the night.

One of the things I enjoy most is the calm and peace I feel when I am out in nature, listening to all of the birds during the day, while the sun is shining through the trees while I am walking through the forest. Or at night while sitting around the fire and hearing hair-raising yips and yipes from the coyotes across the lake. I’m always happier when they are far away from me. There’s nothing like walking out to the outhouse knowing there is a pack of coyotes near by…

There is also something different about eating when camping. A sandwich just tastes so much better when you’ve been outside getting fresh air all day. Having some time to disconnect from all of the screens and other technology we use on a daily basis is also very refreshing.

The anticipation of leaving, when it’s your last day, knowing you’ll need to get back to reality such as work, or whatever your reality may look like, is the worst part. Packing up your things while knowing the clock is ticking is the least fun part of camping. When this feeling comes, I wish I could skip the ride home and just be unpacked already.
