What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?

I’ve always had a tendency to be more of a negative thinker. I am also a deep thinker, or an over analyzer. The two of these on the same team can sometimes make me feel like positivity will never win. I strive to be more positive these days and in order to achieve that, I use acknowledgement of my thoughts, feelings and emotions. My feelings are valid. I am interpreting my world in the best way I can in that moment in time. I also do a little something called rumination. Everyone does it, but whether you can pull yourself off of that endless merry-go-round is the question and gives you the outlook you are or are not looking for. I don’t like insanity, which is what rumination is. The same thing over and over again and getting the same result. I try to jump off the endless merry-go-round by having open communication with the people in my life. In order for me to make a change in my life for the better, it all starts with acknowledging my thoughts and feelings so I can be in a better place mentally, therefore I can live my best life – after all, I only get one.
