How has technology changed your job?

This is a very vague question. I’d need more specifics to answer this in a more direct way. Therefore, I’ve come up with some of my own technology related questions and have provided my own answers.
Here are some interesting questions that I can ask and answer for you:
How has using Remote Access Tools changed the way you do your job for the better?
It has changed my job drastically. What once used to be going to a user’s place of work to physically reinstall a Realtek audio driver on an HP computer or power cycle that Ricoh C3505 multi-function printer, or even modify settings a Zultys or Avaya IP phone has become a thing of the past. Using tools like TeamViewer or Microsoft Quick Assist, or even the web GUI for that particular device, have proven to be valuable tools when working with end-users as these mediums save me much needed time and wear and tear on my vehicle. I always try to resolve an issue remotely if I can, which is the most efficient way of doing so, in my opinion.
How has using Mobile Device Management Systems and learning scripting changed the way you do your job?
Let’s see, where to start.. Mobile Device Management Systems such as Intune have changed the way that I manage devices in a whole new way. Quite a few years back, an organization I worked for had Apple devices that were not what is called “supervised”. We only had an MDM at the time and no way to enable settings like Lost Mode or Restrict WiFi Power On because we did not have Apple School/Business Manager. During the pandemic I got to work on integrating Apple School/Business Manager and our MDM and it was a great learning experience. I got to build it from the ground up and configure all of the policies and settings. I now know both of these systems like the back of my hand and usually always know where to look or what resources to read when an issue arises so I can provide a quick and permanent resolution. One word to sum up scripting is, automation. It is a great thing and you can do more with that than you ever could with just a plain old GUI (graphical user interface). It’s a valuable skill to learn and I recommend it if you plan to work in the tech industry (even if you aren’t some sort of engineer). You can even take the scripts you write and deploy them to the devices you have in your MDM for uniform configurations across a department or even the entire organization.
